Sigmund Groven has performed and toured in South Korea several times. In 2001 he made his first trip to South Korea, as Maco Music released Sigmund’s music there for the first time. Nostalgia was a compilation of songs from various Norwegian albums, and the CD became such a hit that it pushed pop stars Mariah Carey and Elton John down the sales charts. Both MBC and KBS made TV specials about Sigmund, and subsequently several tours followed. In recent years, Sigmund played in the country in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
-The harmonica has a melancholic timbre that I think suits the Koreans in a special way. The harmonica also has its roots in ancient China and Korea. Besides, the instrument does not have any language barriers, Sigmund said about his success in South Korea.
Maco Music has released four Sigmund Groven albums in South Korea, each time in a local edition.
